Student Accounts

Posted in General

Every student has the opportunity to have a student account. These accounts serve as a quasi-bank account in the student’s name for the purpose of paying for The CAVE Student Ministries youth activities. The money in the account is available for any significant event taking place in the youth group. The guidelines for the accounts are as follows:

  1. Student Account money cannot be used as spending money on youth events.
  2. In a given year, if a student raises money or receives contributions in their account but does not, for whatever reason, use the money that year, they can use the money for any event the following year. In other words, the money will not disappear for any reason other than being used for an event, or upon graduation.
  3. Student Accounts cannot be used for amounts less than $5. (This is to keep the amount of paperwork to a minimum for office personnel handling student accounts).
  4. Student Account money cannot be used to purchase items from the Cafe.
  5. If a student graduates with a balance in their account that money will be placed in the general student ministries fund or added to a sibling’s account.
  6. All money to be deposited into a Student Account must come through the Youth Assistant.

For your account balance or other financial questions, please call Donna in the church office at 719-596-5119.

Senior Year Info

Posted in General

A student's senior year is perhaps the most exciting and overwhelming year of life so far. Here are the Cave, we honor our graduating students and their families every year by hosting a dinner party. The dinner this year will be on May 6, 2011. We will post more information to this page as the event gets closer.

However, there is one thing that you can do for us in advance of the banquet. During the dinner, we play a DVD that includes a 3-5 minute chapter of each graduate. Each graduate gets a copy of the DVD which also includes a special message from Pastor Ed. To prepare the video, we need each graduate or their family to submit 25-30 pictures of their life so far. We like to get a baby picture and the senior picture of each student, and then an assortment of pictures in between which show the graduate growing up over the years. They can be funny or serious pictures.

We can also include home video of the student if it can be submitted as a computer file or on a DVD. Sorry, but we do not have the means to capture home video from most camcorders.

We ask and encourage you to submit photos and/or video to use early in the school year - even now if possible. The deadline to submit photos and/or video to us is March 31.

To help you understand what we are looking for, click here to watch a sample video of a previous graduate of the Cave Student Ministries. (Coming Soon!)

Parent Welcome!

Posted in General

Parents, we are glad that you are here! Your role in your teenagers life is vital and we are here to support you. You bear the responsibility to train up a young adult that is honest, full of integrity, cares about others and most importantly, loves God more than anything.

After you register with our site and then log in, you will find the menu of Parent resources on this page. The Calendar contains a list of all activities that we have planned for the year, along with their costs. We understand that you need to know how to plan your schedule, and sometimes your budget, to allow for your student to participate in some of the life-changing events that we plan. To go along with the Calendar, you will also find a complete list of all Forms that we need to have filled out in order for your student to participate in some of our events. Some of our events can be expensive. We do fundraisers periodically to help students earn the money to participate. We also allow each student to have an Account with our Youth Ministry where monies from fundraisers are deposited. Please see our Student Accounts page for details on how these accounts work.

From time to time, your student may ask questions about things that they have heard or been taught during our Bible studies or gatherings. You may also be generally interested in what is being taught to your student. Our Teachings page details current Bible Studies and topics being taught in both our Sunday morning Bible Studies and our Wednesday evening ROCK Service. Our "Meet The Youth Staff" page will introduce you to those adults who are supervising, working with and teaching your child when they are on our campus. This page includes email addresses for each of our Youth Staff - feel free to contact them with any questions that you may have. In addition, our Youth Pastor, Ed Belzer, is always ready to talk with you in person (he loves Starbucks!), by email or by phone. All of his contact information is posted on the Youth Staff page.

Over time, you will also find in this area of our web site a variety of resources designed to help you with the tough questions, to encourage you and to challenge you. Your values, integrity and character have a direct impact on the development of your child into adulthood.
